Where It All Began
Every meaningful mission begins with a moment that changes someone’s life. For Tiffany Tay, that moment came when she witnessed the suffering of patients with end-stage cancer and the helplessness of families who desperately wanted to care for their loved ones.
In 2018, Tiffany began her career in ambulance services with LifeCare Association in Kuching, Sarawak. During her service, she encountered patients with advanced cancer and other serious medical conditions.
What affected her most was not only the patients’ physical suffering, but also the emotional struggles of their families. Many loved their parents and relatives deeply, yet lacked the medical knowledge, practical nursing skills and confidence to care for them at home.
They wanted to help, but often did not know how. Those experiences left a lasting impression on Tiffany and changed the direction of her life.
It was never a lack of love. It was a lack of professional support.
Our purpose
Why She Founded Swiss Nurse
Tiffany came to believe that professional healthcare should extend beyond hospital walls. Elderly individuals, patients with serious illnesses and those requiring long-term care should have the opportunity to remain in their own homes whenever medically appropriate.
To her, home is more than a place to live. It is where memories are made, where families belong, and where people find comfort, familiarity and love.
She wanted families to have another option when they lacked the knowledge or support to care for ageing parents at home. Instead of moving patients away from their families to receive care, why not bring professional nursing care directly into their homes?
Driven by this conviction, she left her position and founded Swiss Nurse, a home nursing service dedicated to supporting patients and their families in Kuching.

At the heart of Tiffany’s vision lies a timeless Chinese expression, reflecting gratitude, filial love, family responsibility and respect for the generations before us.
Our parents once cared for us when we were young, vulnerable and dependent on them. As they grow older, they may need that same patience, compassion and support in return.
Modern families face demanding responsibilities. Even the most devoted children may not have the medical training, experience or time necessary to provide complex nursing care.
Swiss Nurse exists to support the love of a family with professional nursing care, help generations remain together whenever possible, and preserve each patient’s dignity, comfort and quality of life.

Residential nursing facilities remain essential for individuals requiring certain levels of specialised care. Swiss Nurse gives families another choice: professional nursing care at home, when clinically suitable.
